Andye is a rising Toronto-based R&B artist of Ethiopian heritage, blending traditional soul influences with contemporary R&B. Born in Ethiopia, he moved to Toronto at a young age and developed an early connection to music through the sounds that shaped him, with early-2000s R&B becoming a lasting influence on his songwriting and vocal style.
After a friend introduced him to “Kiss Kiss” by Chris Brown, Andye’s passion for music grew, though he initially kept his singing private. It wasn’t until a classmate dared him to release a record that he began taking his artistry more seriously. Early songs including “Outta Love” and “Who is She,” influenced by artists such as Chris Brown and The Weeknd, went on to accumulate millions of streams globally.
Now, Andye is stepping into a more intentional creative chapter. His music pairs soulful vocals with atmospheric production and songwriting rooted in relationships, vulnerability and lived experience. His connection to his Ethiopian heritage and Amharic also informs the perspective he brings to his work.
That evolution has brought Andye into the studio with Grammy Award-winning producer Yogi The Producer and JUNO Award-winning singer-songwriter Savannah Ré, collaborators who have helped him further define a sound that feels increasingly his own. Their work together includes “Safe,” part of Andye’s current creative chapter.
Unafraid to sit with emotional tension, Andye approaches songwriting with the intimacy of a journal entry, bringing greater clarity and intention to his music as he continues to establish his voice within Canadian R&B.
